The following is a list of some of the resins and polymers which The Chemical Company can supply to customers including a short description of the uses of each. Paper Size
TCC-55-PLH is a fortified, extended liquid size used in the paper industry and
is approved for use in food packaging and paperboard. It is delivered at 50%
solids and can be diluted to 3% solids. It reduces rosin build up on presses
and felts, as compared to other sizing products in use today.
TCC-41O-UCC is a non-formaldehyde wicking resistant sizing which is FDA approved
for surface treament for contact with dry, fatty and aqueous food.
Formaldehyde Solutions
Aqueous solutions of formaldehyde: 25%, 37%, 44%, 50% inhibited (with varying
percentages of Methanol) or stabilised or unstabilised (methanol free). Also
available in solution in n-butanol, ethanol, or urea; USP (37% aqueous solution
containing methanol). These formaldehyde solutions are used in the manufacture
of pentaerythritol, fertilizer, urea and melamine resins, phenolic resins, embalming
fluids, ethylene glycol, as a preservative, foam insulation, particleboard,
etc. A versatile chemical intermediate.
Absorbent Polymers
TCC-SAB-8OO-SH and TCC-PAC-lOO-SH are superabsorbent polymers. In their dry
crystalline form, they are insoluble in water but highly swellable. They can
be used directly in powder form or they can be incorporated into nonwovens,
films and coatings, and filling and flooding compounds. These polymers are especially
suited for underground cables, underwater cables including seawater applications,
and drag (trailing) cables.
Laminating Resins and Binding Agents
TCC-IB-620-NE and TCC-lB-634-NE are spray dried, freeflowing melamine-formaldehyde
resin powders. They exhibit excellent adhesion to wood and are good binders
for wood particles and wood flour for the manufacture of molded panels and blocks.
These resins are suitable for the production of moulding compounds for food
trays, dishes, parts for electrical appliances and tools, and other molded products.
TCC-IB-O17-NE is a spray dried, free flowing urea-formaldehyde resin powder.
It can easily be reconstituted in water to form a resin solution, or can be
used in its powder form as a binder. Applications include molded wood products,
furniture, adhesives and water resistant paper adhesive.
TCC-4596-AC is a non-aromatic polyester acrylate resin system. It can be used
as a filled laminating resin for fiber glass reinforced parts where low smoke
properties are needed.
TCC-GP200P-AC is a low profile polyester laminating resin based on dicyclopentadiene.
It features medium reactivity and excellent nonprint show through. It is available
in no wax and waxed formulations, promoted and unpromoted.
TCC-GP1OOP-AC is a styrenated unsaturated polyester resin. This resin is designed
for hand lay up of boats, panels and other industrial fabrications of demanding
quality.
TCC-3200-LVP-AC is a rigid, medium reactivity isophthalic laminating and back-up
resin. Its main uses include hand lay up and spray-up of boat hulls, building
products, car, truck bodies, pipes, tank linings, road, bridge, industrial floor
coatings and as tooling resin in building molds.
Other Protective Coatings
TCC-ID.288-AC DENSIFIED MATRIX RESIN is a rigid, NPG-isophthaic, unsaturated polyester resin. It is used to make non-gel coated parts with U.V. and stain
resistance. Typically Alumina Trihydrate is used as the filler together with pigments and decorative color chips.
TCC-8958-AC is a polyurethane coating. It is a two pan polyester - aliphatic isocyanate system. This material is very light stable and has an outstanding
level of resistance to chemical solvents and abrasion. It can be applied to
metals, wood, concrete and plastics.
TCC-AC AQUA SHIELD POLYESTER RESIN is a isophthalic polyester resin. It has superior corrosion resistance and is particularly well suited for tooling applications.
Other Products
TCC-APF-AC is a parting agent designed to be used as a room temperature release
coat for cured reinforced fiberglass laminates. It will give a strong, clear
continuous film which will be completely resistant to styrenated resins.
