Announcement: TCC is a Certified NACD Member

The Chemical Company (TCC) is proud to announce its certification as a member of the National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD); the most highly respected and internationally recognized business association in the global chemical industry.

Established In 1971, NACD is an international association of chemical distributors and their supply-chain partners. The chemical distribution industry that NACD represents employs more than 70,000 people and generates $5.14 billion in tax revenues for local communities across the country. The nearly 450- member and affiliate companies that NACD represents process, formulate, blend, re-package, warehouse, transport, and market chemical products for more than 750,000 customers. That’s over 85% of the chemical distribution capacity in the nation and 90% of the industry’s gross revenue.

Why is NACD membership significant for TCC?

Since its founding, TCC has shared the objectives of the NACD mission to enhance and communicate the professionalism and stewardship of the chemical distribution industry. TCC also recognizes the advantages of establishing a strong relationship with an organization whose vision is to be the premier authority for distribution in the United States, to advocate sound government policies, and to promote the continuous improvement of member companies. TCC particularly concurs with the NACD policy of striving for excellence through its Responsible Distribution® program, of which, TCC is now a certified member.

How does NACD certified membership benefit TCC and its customers?

NACD member companies represent 93% of US chemical distribution sales, making NACD the strongest unified voice of chemical industry leaders. Through NACD eduction programs, meetings, webinars, trade shows and conventions, the top distributors in the country are given the opportunity to interact and discuss issues, government policies and legislation that affects the industry and its customers as a whole. NACD gives the entire industry a unified voice in Washington when critical legislation is being drafted that can dramatically alter the future of the chemical business and the distribution process. Customers of certified member companies enjoy the extra layer of comfort and security assured by the NACD Responsible Distribution® program, which is celebrating 25 years of improving safety and performance.

How does the Responsible Distribution® program work?

In December of 1991, NACD member companies undertook as their most important mission, the inception of Responsible Distribution®. The program was developed by NACD members for NACD members.

Responsible Distribution® is a mandatory third-party verified environmental, health, safety and security program that allows members to demonstrate their commitment to continuous performance improvement in all phases of chemical storage, handling, transportation, and disposal. To be a certified NACD member, each applicant company must sign a member-voted commitment to the NACD Responsible Distribution® program.

Applicant companies are considered Candidate members until verified in full compliance with NACD’s Responsible Distribution®. The Candidate firm must submit proof of passing third-party verification within two years following the date the Candidate’s application is approved for membership by NACD’s Board of Directors to be considered a certified regular voting member. TCC passed the verification process and is now a certified NACD voting member in good standing.

The key benefits of Responsible Distribution® are: lower occurrences of safety and evironmental incidents; better documentation of company policies; employed practices of excellence and quality systems throughout company operations; better communication with local communities; reduced audit time and costs; savings on insurance; and improved marketplace visibility and earned credibility through performance.
