The Chemical Company’s ChemFlexx TOTM (Tri-2-ethylhexyl Trimellitate) is a nearly colorless, oily liquid produced for use in polyvinyl chloride homopolymer and copolymer resin systems. It is specified for applications where extreme low volatility and lasting plasticization are required.
ChemFlexx TOTM is a primary branched monomeric plasticizer that combines characteristics associated with both polyester and monomer plasticizers. It is suitable for use in PVC, cellulose nitrate, ethyl cellulose, and polymethyl methacrylate formulations. Due to its electrical properties, ChemFlexx TOTM is commonly used in wire and cable insulation for 105°C-rated applications, as well as sealing gaskets and similar products.
Trimellitate plasticizers are often selected as alternatives to phthalate plasticizers when low volatility and high-temperature performance are important. ChemFlexx TOTM exhibits low migration and extraction resistance properties referenced for applications such as appliance gaskets, medical tubing, and photographic storage materials. In appropriate formulations, ChemFlexx TOTM may also be blended with other lower-volatility plasticizers such as DUP and DOTP.
