Strong crop conditions support ethanol production, but farmer margins remain under pressure. Crop conditions across much of the Corn Belt have generally been favorable, supporting expectations for another large corn harvest. At the same time, ethanol production has climbed to its highest level in more than two months, providing an important source of demand for U.S. corn. Despite these positive indicators, many producers continue to face weak commodity prices, elevated production costs, and uncertain returns. As a result, market participants remain focused on whether stronger demand and tightening global supplies will be enough to improve farm profitability during the second half of the year.
