While the incoming administration has vowed to review, and possibly significantly increase tariffs on China, a Trump presidency is also slated to impact ocean container shipping costs as well. In the first round of Trump-enacted tariffs, ocean freight rates rose in tandem due to increased demand and urgency in clearing material into the US. A similar spike is being anticipated to those closely watching ocean shipping markets.
