EU Divided on Disconnecting Russian Energy

European Union ministers met to discuss a strategy for moving away from oil and gas supplied by Russia. While heavy sanctions have been implemented on Russia by the EU and other world allies, the EU still remains heavily reliant on Russian fossil fuels. Though the EU ministers seem to be in mutual agreement of the urgency to wean off of Russian dependence, a lack of unity in a single solution as to how and when are causing a standstill. While some members of the EU claim that they would be able to endure an oil ban, other members insist that cutting Russia out entirely and all at once can cause a devastating effect on current resources and supply.
